A Creature of Habit
I've always considered myself a creature of habit. Placement of my items. Rewatching my favorite TV shows until I can essentially memorize them. Tucked into bed, listening to the same depressive playlist, whenever I have bad days (happens more often than not). Can I truly call this a habit? Is encouraging bad patterns and unhealthy coping mechanisms a valid excuse to call myself a creature of habit?
So I want to embark on this journey, where I can discuss my struggles and goals, and perhaps share a teeny bit of insight on this rollercoaster. This is a testament to the fact that every day we can better ourselves and our surroundings. Finding peace within ourselves is the biggest gift we can offer.
My goals that I want to hopefully achieve as I go through this journey are finding balance and acceptance. To continue pursuing my goals even in challenging times. To be able to build a community, a village, in a world of individuals, and 0s and 1s.
Discussing topics from personal and mental well-being to fun pop culture references. In short, everything.
As for why I decided to blog and write down these thoughts, especially in a world focused on podcasts and fast-paced media, well, the answer to that might be a little complex. I have always found such fascination with the power of words. When I was younger, I would not be able to put down a book, to the point I would fight my car sickness, to be able to get to the next page. When I was in high school, I found refuge in writing poetry. Looking back at it, it was probably cringey, but I am grateful because it was an outlet. And now, I find security in those words. I hang on to every single word because it carries meaning. Good or bad.
Being vulnerable and expressing emotions through any form is art. Writing is an art form that often goes unappreciated. It may not be in color and may not be flashy, but it definitely has depth.
Being intentional with the words we use and using kinder words for ourselves is hard, but with practice, it'll become a habit. Showing compassion and genuine love for yourself, now that is the ultimate goal for a creature of habit.
Becoming a creature of up, down, and everything in between.
